I love this. My 10 year old daughter has been begging me to make caramel corn. I plan to show her this and say: go for it!

Irvin says
Just make sure she has a bowl of ice water next to her in case of emergency. The 240˚F caramel can hurt – I know from experience!

I had NO idea you could microwave regular kernels. I always pop it on the stove and end up burning it half the time! Can’t wait to try this!
Reply
Irvin says
Yes! The one thing with microwaving is you don’t get as many popped kernels as when you make it on the stove. I use Simply Recipes method of stovetop popping (with less oil & a teaspoon of salt in the beginning) and it works every time without burning. But nothing beats the ease of the microwave!

Awesome concept, flawless execution, and a recipe I will make tomorrow it looks so good.
Only one question: Is that really your stove? Mine is NEVER that clean!
Reply
Irvin says
LOL. One thing I will say about doing this wordless recipes is that it means my stove & microwave get scrubbed like they have never been scrubbed before! I don’t think either of them have been this clean since we moved in/got them.

Two tablespoons or 1/4 US stick. And I love that you are bee keeper. If my landlord let me, I would totally keep bees. *sigh*

"Mr. Lin, a graphic designer in San Francisco who writes the food blog Eat the Love, takes risks in nearly every one of the 150 elaborate recipes in his book. He doesn’t just paint the lily; he bejewels and shellacs it, too."
–MELISSA CLARK for the New York Times
“My goodness, this cookbook! It’s filled to the brim with recipes for the most splendidly beautiful cakes, cookies, breads, and tarts I think I’ve ever seen. My eyes kept getting wider and wider as I turned every page—both the flavor combinations and the photos are out of this world. Irvin Lin has most definitely outdone himself. This book is a triumph!”
—REE DRUMMOND, New York Times best-selling author of The Pioneer Woman Cooks
“Irvin Lin gives home-baked treats a twist, ramping them up with a range of contemporary flavors that are sure to surprise and delight.
