Ecodesign all things worth doingOrganizations recognize the need to reduce adverse impacts on the environment from their products and the need to include environmental considerations in design and development, applying life cycle thinking. This process is generally called “ecodesign”. In ISO 14006:2020 Environmental management systems - Guidelines for incorporating ecodesign, "ecodesign" is defined as a systematic approach, which considers environmental aspects in design and development with the aim to reduce adverse environmental impacts throughout the life cycle of a product. Why does Environmental Documentation matter?

Do you want to become the best supplier and need anEnvironmental product declaration (#EPD)?🌍 An EPD describes the product’s environmental impact in a transparent and comparable manner and is based onlife cycle assessment (#LCA). Depending on what the product is,product category rules (PCR)define what needs to be included in the declaration. For example, an EPD for construction products needs to include19different environmentalimpact categories across the product’s production, manufacturing, and end of life stages (or more!), which helps companies identify potential environmental issues along the value chain and encourages them to implement more circular designs for improved environmental performance. Generally, creating an EPD requires the following stages:product scoping, data collection, LCA modelling, results interpretation and writing of the LCA report and the declaration itself, EPD verificationand finally,publishing.🏁An EPD needs to be verified by an independent third party and then published through a program operator, such as the International EPD system, IBU, PEP Ecopassport, Programme INIES, EPD Norge etc. An EPD’s validity is usually for five years.
