5 Starters: 8 relievers out of the bullpen:
Manaea (L)

Quintana (L)
Severino (R)
Megill (R)
Díaz (R)
Buttó (R)
Brazobán (R)
Maton (R)

Let's see how this changes tomorrow when rosters expand from 26 to 28 with one pitcher and one position plyer being added respectively to rosters throughout MLB.
Any predictions on who gets called up tomorrow?
Quintana is pitching like he's facing the 27' Yankees.

The fact that the Mets are within striking distance of a playoff

spot with all of Nimmo, Alonso, McNeil and Alvarez underperforming for most of the year - with this pitching corps - is nothing short of amazing. Doesn’t make me feel “good” because people feel that they are playing above their projections. Because I don’t. It’s just an inconsistent, underperforming team. Par for the course as a Mets fan.
We are stuck with Nimmo and McNeil. Alvarez should shape back into form. Alonso can take a hike. What an empty calories type of player. Put Vientos at first - or keep him at third and find a replacement for first base. I know some will disagree and I understand why. You could do much worse than Alonso. On a team friendly, low cost contract - yes, I’d keep him because you can use the money to upgrade in other areas. But he isn’t trending positively and I don’t see him aging well. And him switching to Boras as an agent is all you need to know about what he’s looking for.
Gun to head - I don’t see the Mets getting a WC spot. And that’s unfortunate, again. But I hope to be surprised.
on a no 1 or no 2 reliable starter or a setup man than paying up for Alonso.

Dodgers leading the DBs in the 6th inning, 6-5, so not over yet.
The team we needed after that difficult run. Let's get that sweep tomorrow!

DBs lost 8-6, so we gained on them too.

The White Sox are a weird team. My wife and I went to fireworks night here in Cleveland, a Guardians-White Sox game. The Guardians were/are a first-place team, the White Sox, well, you know. The White Sox beat the Guardians up that night. And in fact, the White Sox gave the Guardians fits this year. The White Sox aren't a complete train wreck. They're not getting blown out every night. They seem to play just badly enough to lose, over and over and over and over and over again, whether they're playing a good team or a bad team.
I want that sweep but I'm not surprised neither of the first two games has been a blowout.

Remember this: Ryan Clifford will probably be ready for the bigs in 2026. There's your future 1st baseman. Might have to stick Vientos at 1B in 2025, but Clifford's likely the guy at 1B going forward if he continues to develop like he has thus far in the minors.
Mets callups will be old friend lefty reliever Alex Young & utility IF

this season was actually the worst case scenario for Pete, statistically down without any injuries to blame but also Lindor cemented himself as the true leader of the team while power players like Vientos emerged and JD/Winker filled in admirably.
Also prior to injury Baty is sitting in AAA mashing as well. A you already mentioned Clifford.
Think his best option is a 1 year deal.
Hope you're getting it good out there dude.

Man he looked pissed coming off the mound, cant see him staying in chicago much longet. Would be enticed to send a package to get him next year
against the Red Sox. Every series is big for us now!
What a mess that team is. Good job taking care of business, though. Manaea has been our ace for awhile now. Let's go Phils!
Meaningful games in September..all we could ask of this year....now if the Giants can give us meaningful games after Thanksgiving...I will be thrilled
the Mets get proactive and try to get a longer term deal done with Manaea. He's the one guy among Severino, Quintana, and Blackburn I want back in the rotation next year. He's gonna decline his option for sure. Open the wallet Stevie.

Since he's gone three-quarters he's been phenomenal. He's always been better than Walker and is pitching like a 1 or 2. Walker at best was a 4 or 5. If not him, who's in the rotation next year?

Manaea is going to get paid, and I’m fine with that, the question is, how long will the contract have to be? 7-3 trip is nice, but it would have been even better if they could have closed out at least one of the 2 games they blew.

Manaea isn’t signing now, unless Cohen gives him a Scherzer type deal. Why would he? He’s going to be one of the best SP’s on the market.
Braves up by a mere one game on the Mets.
They have to keep up the pressure and win this home series vs the Red Sox, who are also in the heat of the AL WC race.
the mets have the QO to use for either of manaea/severino (or both)
Eric on Li : 9/1/2024 11:49 pm : link
if the season ended today i'd use it on both. im not sure either one would accept it but getting either of them back on a 1 year deal around 20m would be great, and if not it will hurt their markets since they are not elite SP and it might make them easier to extend on reasonable deals.
if not stearns has earned some trust that he knows how to find good mid tier Sps. Senga, Scott, and Peterson are likely penciled into 3 spots. Blackburn is probably your 6th SP. Sproat and Tidwell are in AAA.
good job taking care of business against chisox, keep it going at home.

rough weekend only 3 games separate all 4 teams. 25 games left, buckle tf up.
This is what we wanted September baseball locked and loaded.
...and way off in the distant background you see Senga pitching at 90'

I would assume a GM is checking in with player agents throughout the course of a season when they're impending FAs.
OP stated they haven't been in contact as if it were a fact
